Nuclear Geometry of Jet Quenching
نویسنده
چکیده
The most suitable way to study the jet quenching as a function of distance traversed is varying the impact parameter b of ultrarelativistic nucleus-nucleus collision (initial energy density in nuclear overlapping zone is almost independent of b up to b ∼ RA). It is shown that b-dependences of medium-induced radiative and collisional energy losses of a hard parton jet propagating through dense QCD-matter are very different. The experimental verification of this phenomenon could be performed for a jet with non-zero cone size basing on essential difference between angular distributions of collisional and radiative energy losses.

Jet quenching and high-pT azimuthal asymmetry 1
Jet quenching and high-p T azimuthal asymmetry Abstract The azimuthal anisotropy of high-p T particle production in non-central heavy ion collisions is among the most promising observables of partonic energy loss in an azimuthally non-symmetric volume of quark-gluon plasma. We discuss the implications of nuclear geometry for the models of partonic energy loss in the context of recent RHIC data ...

We study, in a pQCD calculation augmented by nuclear effects, the jet energy loss needed to reproduce the π spectra in Au+Au collisions at large pT , measured by PHENIX at RHIC. The transverse width of the parton momentum distributions (intrinsic kT ) is used phenomenologically to obtain a reliable baseline pp result. Jet quenching is applied to the nuclear spectra (including shadowing and mult...

Direct photon production in minimum bias d+Cu and d+Au and central Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions at center of mass energies √ s = 62.4 GeV and 200GeV at RHIC is systematically investigated [1]. We study the jet quenching effect, the medium-induced photon bremsstrahlung and jet-photon conversion in the hot QGP. We account for known cold nuclear matter effects, such as the isospin effect, the Cronin...

We utilize a 3D hybrid hydro+micro model for a comprehensive and consistent description of soft and hard particle production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at RHIC. In the soft sector we focus on the dynamics of (multi-)strange baryons, where a clear strangeness dependence of their collision rates and freeze-out is observed. In the hard sector we study the radiative energy loss of h...
متن کاملHigh Pt Suppression without Jet Quenching in Au+au Collisions in Nexus
Problem of high PT suppression in RHIC data is generally associated to jet quenching in a dense medium. We recently proposed a new approach to high energy nuclear scattering, which treats the initial stage of heavy ion collisions in a sophisticated way, and whose numerical solution is the model neXus. Within this model, there is no jet quenching, but the explicit energy conservation leads to si...
